Chuck Houston

Chuck began his career at Henry County Health and Rehabilitation in 2004. Prior to this he was an employee at Manpower where he received 7 years of employment staffing experience. He is a graduate of Troy University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Marketing. He received his Nursing Home Administrators License in March of 2008. He is a native of Ozark Alabama and now resides in Dothan with his wife Allison and two children Ella and Emma.

Debbie Favel

Director of Nursing

Debbie resides in Abbeville and has extensive healthcare experience in the acute and long term care industry as well as hospice. She holds a masters degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix and has been a healthcare consultant and speaker on the national level.

Cherrila Murphy

Quality Assurance Coordinator

Cherrila joined the team at Henry County Health and Rehabilitation in 1992 as a charge nurse on the floor. In 1993 she was promoted to Director of Nursing where she has served for the past 15 years. She is a certified gerontological Nurse. She and her husband Robert reside in Abbeville. They have three children Kristen (Clint) Ellis, Matthew (Leigh) Murphy and Meagan. They have one grandchild Madelyn.

Gay Smith

Director of Social Services

Gay began her career at Henry County Health and Rehabilitation in January of 2008. She has worked with senior services for over 25 years. She received a Bachelors of Arts in Social Work from Mississippi State University. She is a native of Mississippi and now resides in Dothan with her husband James. They have three children Allison, Brittany and Garrett.

Scott Hatfield

Scott joined the team as Maintenance Superintendent of Henry County Health and Rehab 2006. Prior to that he served as maintenance assistant for 1 year. Along with his knowledge and experience, he brings a sense of enthusiasm and love for his job. Scott is a native of Graceville Florida. He now resides in Abbeville with his wife Vicki and two children Kealan and Christian.

Alice Lawrence

Alice began her employment at Henry County Health and Rehabilitation in 1987 as a housekeeper. Because of her hard work and dedication she was promoted to Director of Environmental Services in July of 1990. She is a native of New Jersey. She and her husband Arthur reside in Abbeville.


Christy Bennett
- Director of Accounting

Christy joined the team of Henry County Health and Rehabilitation in 2001. She has an Associates Degree in Accounting and brings over 15 years experience with her. She is a native of Ozark Alabama. She and her husband Chris currently reside in Eufaula. They have two children Maegan and Jackson.

Shannon Montgomery

Director of Rehabilitation Services

Shannon received a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Auburn University in 1995 and later graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy. She is Wound Care Certified and is a member of NAWC (National Alliance on Wound Care). Shannon is also affiliated with APTA (American Physical Therapy Association) serving in both Alabama and Georgia’s local chapters and is a Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist. Shannon brings years of professional therapy experience with her to include pediatrics, acute and sub-acute care, home health, outpatient orthopedics, neuro rehabilitation and nursing home therapy. Shannon is a native of Georgia and now resides in Eufaula, Alabama with her husband Scott and their two girls Abby and Shelby.

Pam Harbert

Therapy Services Inpatient Supervisor

Pam received her Physical Therapy Assistant degree in 1999 following seven years of active duty in the US Coast Guard. Her experience includes;home health, sports medicine, longterm and acute care settings. she is a Native of Wisconsin and now resides in Newville with her husband Jay and four children Caleb, Will, Brooke, and Gary.

Daphne began her career at Henry County Health and Rehabilitation in 2004 as an RN Supervisor. She was promoted to Director of Risk Management in 2007. She received her Bachelors of Nursing degree from Troy State University. She is a native of Henry County and she and her husband Wayne reside in Haleburg with their three children Jacob, Caleb and Noah.

Sherri Nowell ALA

Sherri joined the Henry County Health Care Authority team as Administrator of the Assisted Living Facilities in 1997. She has successfully managed Azaleal Court in Headland and Dogwood Manor in Abbeville for 12 years. She is a native of Headland graduating from Headland High School. She attended both Wallace Community College and Riley Business College. She currently resides in Headland and has two children Lynsey and Adam.

Kim Pritchett

Kim began her career at Henry County Health and Rehabilitation Facility in 2007. Prior to this she served as an assisted living administrator for four years. She graduated from Auburn University in 2002 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Health Services Administration. She and her husband Adam reside in Barbour County with their two boys Cohen and Eben.

Janice Jinks - Director of Dietary Services
Janice began her career at Henry County Health and Rehabilitation Facility in October 2009 as the Director of Dietary. She received her Dietary Manager training for pre-certification from the University of Florida in July 2005 and received her Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional Certification in October 2005. She is now working toward a degree in Dietetics. She is a native of Henry County and now resides in Headland with her husband, Kenneth. They have a daughter Haleigh and seven other children: Tanner, Christopher, Kenny, Kyle, Kalen, Somer, and Taylor.








Jamie Backensto- Director of Acivities
Jamie Backensto came to work at HCHR in October of 2009. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University and has been a licensed Recreational Therapist for 9 years. Prior to her employment here, Jamie served as Activity Director for a long term care facility in Georgia. She and her husband Tim reside in Eufaula are are members of Parkview Baptist Church. They have 3 sons Noah, Eric and John.



Dr. R. Bruce Hall M.D.
- Rehabilitation Director

R. Bruce Hall, M.D., is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in total joint replacement and sports medicine. A native of southeast Alabama, he now resides in Dothan. Dr. Hall graduated from Auburn University where he was an athletic trainer for all the athletic teams. He pursued this interest, receiving a medical degree and later completing his residency at the University Of Alabama School Of Medicine in Birmingham, AL. He is a former president of Southern Bone and Joint Specialists and is affiliated with several professional organizations including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Southern Medical Association.

Dr. Richard Meadows D.O
. - Medical Director
Dr. Richard Meadows has served as the Medical Director for Henry County Health and Rehab for over 15 years. After receiving his B.S. in Pharmacy at Auburn University in 1978, Dr. Meadows was awarded his degree as a Doctor of Osteopathy in 1982. He has been providing compassionate health care to the citizens of Abbeville and the surrounding areas as a Board Certified Family Practitioner for the past 25 years at the Family Practice Center of Abbeville. Dr. Meadows is a member of the American Medical Directors Association, the Alabama Medical Directors Association, and the American Osteopathic Association. He is also a member and former president of the Alabama Osteopathic Medical Association. Dr. Meadows resides in Abbeville with his wife Rebecca Roland along with their family.
